Leading the Way: Nurses Embrace Transforming Health Care

Encouraged by the release two years ago of IOM’s landmark report on nursing, health care providers, especially nurses, have embraced transforming health care for all Americans. Using terms like interprofessional collaboration, advancing education, removing barriers, nurse leaders and other stakeholders are envisioning a future where nurses can achieve their full potential across all levels.

 
Susan Reinhard, PhD, RN, FAAN, senior vice president of the AARP Public Policy Institute and chief strategist for the Center to Champion Nursing in America, says: “The larger world view about the future role of nurses is taking root. Nurses are stepping up to help lead this transformation in health and health care for people of all ages, and that’s incredibly exciting to see.”
